The Sian Bradwell Fund For Children With Cancer

Donate To This Campaign

When Sian (a Welsh Gaelic name, pronounced "SHAHN", it means "precious gift of God") was 5 months old, her parents found a lump on her foot, which was diagnosed as a very rare form of cancer called Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumour. Doctors thought it had started in her pancreas and spread through her bloodstream to her liver and spine.  Sian fought bravely, undergoing chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation treatment, but she succumbed 11 months later.

Unfortunately, Sian’s story is not unique.  There are far too many youngsters who spend their childhood in hospital beds instead of on playgrounds.  The Sian Bradwell Fund has been established to provide a reliable source of funds from which the Hospital can draw every year to provide priority medical equipment for the Haematology-Oncology department, hoping that children can stop being patients and get back to being just children.

DID YOU KNOW ...

  • The government pays for the initial medical equipment installed when a new hospital is built.  However, when that equipment must be replaced, the Hospital must contact the community to pay for new or replacement equipment.
  • Some 10,000 children are living with cancer in Canada today;
  • Each year, about 1500 cases are diagnosed;
  • In Canada, childhood cancer remains the cause of more deaths than any other disease in children from the age of one year through adolescence.

PLEASE JOIN OUR EFFORTS TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR CHILDHOOD CANCER AND FUNDS FOR MEDICAL EQUIPMENT.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GRACIOUS SUPPORT!
